In 2003, the Deschutes Land Trust acquired a 1,240-acre property in the Metolius River basin, subsequently named the Metolius Preserve. This parcel of land is located between Black Butte and Suttle Lake. Following the land trust’s management priorities for the preserve, a grant was secured from Wolftree, Inc., to contract with the East Cascades Bird Conservancy (ECBC) for the purpose of studying avian populations on the property. The following projects are ongoing. For more information, or to volunteer with these projects, contact the project leader.
